Abancay
The origin of the word Abancay might have two possible explanations:
* 1) It is a transliteration to Spanish of the Quechuan word amancay, meaning lily.
* 2) It originates from the Quechuan awanqay, meaning weaving place, which is the version proposed by Rodolfo Cerrón Palomino, a Peruvian linguist.
